My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful oceanfront property, and I wanted to share an honest recap of our time there — from the vibrant activities to the food, entertainment, and everything in between.

From the moment we landed in Freeport, the Bahamas greeted us with that signature turquoise-blue view that instantly makes you exhale. The resort is just a short drive from the airport, tucked away on a stretch of soft white sand with swaying palms and nonstop ocean views.

Check-in was smooth, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive — offering welcome drinks and plenty of smiles. The energy at Viva Fortuna is lively and laid-back all at once. You’ll hear laughter, music, and the sound of the waves as soon as you walk through the open-air lobby.

The Room: Ocean Views with Room for Improvement

Our room had a stunning ocean view that made waking up every morning feel like a dream. You could literally step out to the balcony and watch the sun rise over the water — absolutely breathtaking.

While the scenery was perfect, the room itself showed a bit of wear and tear, from chipped tiles to a few plumbing hiccups. However, what truly stood out was how attentive the staff was in helping us throughout our stay. Every request we made was handled with warmth and professionalism, and that goes a long way in hospitality.

• The Buffet was our daily go-to for breakfast and lunch — fresh fruit, omelet stations, Bahamian pastries, and delicious comfort dishes.

• Dolce Vita, the Italian restaurant, was my personal favorite for dinner. Their pasta and tiramisu were heavenly.

• Don Diego, another on-site restaurant, brought that Latin flair with vibrant flavors, perfectly seasoned meats, and tropical cocktails that hit just right.

The resort also offers multiple bars, so whether you want a cocktail by the pool or a glass of wine with dinner, there’s always someone ready to make your experience special.

Activities: The True Heart of Viva Fortuna

If you love an active vacation, Viva Fortuna is a playground. Every day is packed with things to do — both for adventure seekers and those who just want to chill under a cabana.

Here are some of the activities we enjoyed most:

• Kayaking & Paddleboarding: Gliding over that crystal-clear Bahamian water was magical. The staff helped us gear up and even gave a mini-lesson before we hit the waves.

• Archery: This was surprisingly fun! The instructors were super patient and made it a friendly competition between guests.

• Trapeze School: Yes — they actually have trapeze lessons on-site! It was something totally unexpected, and my husband and I laughed so hard trying to keep our balance.

• Beach Volleyball & Tennis Courts: Always something happening — it’s easy to meet other guests and make friends.

• Excursion to Pig Island: One of the most memorable parts of our trip. We took a short boat ride and got to swim with the famous Bahamian pigs — an unforgettable experience!

And for those who just want to relax, there are plenty of hammocks, shaded lounge areas, and a huge pool that becomes the heart of the resort during the day.

Entertainment & Nightlife

Our stay at Viva Fortuna was a mix of beautiful experiences, real-life adventures, and warm hospitality. While there were a few things that could use improvement (like room maintenance and housekeeping consistency), the staff’s kindness, the food, and the endless activities made the trip memorable in the best way.
